Anthocyanins Boost Memory
Anthocyanins are flavonoids that give plant foods like blueberries and cherries their red, blue, and purple colors. In a systematic review of prior studies, British researchers found that anthocyanins are associated with improved memory and may improve blood flow to the brain.1 The researchers suggested that this positive effect is partially because anthocyanins are anti-inflammatory and can counteract inflammation in the brain.
