A Plant-Rich Diet May Help Against Endometriosis
A diet rich in plants may help prevent and treat endometriosis, a condition in which cells that normally line the uterus end up in the abdominal cavity, causing pain and compromising fertility. Hormonal and surgical approaches are of limited value. According to a new review in Frontiers in Nutrition, nutritional changes can alter the hormonal actions that fuel endometriosis. Many women have found benefit from a diet change. Even so, it is not yet known how universal the benefits of a healthy plant-based diet will be for women with endometriosis, and further studies are in progress.
