Vegan Diets Benefit Women’s Reproductive Health

Plant-based diets can be beneficial for female reproduction, according to a new literature review. Studies on the topic published in the last five years support the healthfulness of a vegan diet with supplementation for women, noting that there need not be deficiencies which would cause menstrual cycle disorders or infertility.1

Studies by the Physicians Committee have shown that low-fat vegan diets improve dysmenorrhea2 and, when supplemented with soybeans, greatly reduce menopausal hot flashes.3
