New Virginia law will create a task force to study requirements for animal research facilities! This study would examine the need to report to the state the numbers of animals used by research facilities, any violations of federal animal welfare rules, and the number of animals used in experiments. Establishing transparency and accountability is an important step toward modernizing research and completely moving away from cruel animal experiments and testing in labs.

Our 2024 Victories

  • PCRM convinced Duke University to replace the use of live animals to train medical students with nonanimal, human-relevant methods.
  • PCRM worked to ensure the establishment of new NIH programs to accelerate the development and use new nonanimal research methods.
  • A new law supported by PCRM in New York will make nutrition education a priority for physicians so that patients can be empowered to take charge of their own health.
