Vegan Diets Powerful for Weight Loss

Vegetarian and especially vegan diets help with weight loss, according to a new review in the International Journal of Disease Reversal and Prevention. Researchers from the Physicians Committee looked at both observational studies and clinical trials to conclude that even without counting calories these dietary patterns lead to weight loss by their naturally reduced caloric density as well as their contribution to a higher post-meal burn, also known as the thermic effect of food. Vegan and vegetarian diets also improve lipid concentrations, blood glucose, and blood pressure and are as acceptable as other therapeutic diets.
